Final COVID-19 samples of 263 people housed at ITBP quarantine centre taken
The final COVID-19 sample collection of 263 people, evacuated recently from Italy and now staying at an ITBP quarantine facility, has been done and results are expected soon, a senior official said on Saturday.
Another batch of 217 people, who too were brought back from Milan city in Italy and admitted to this facility on March 15, has been found negative for COVID-19, he said.
“Final samples of 263 people brought to the quarantine from Rome on March 22 have been taken. The reports are awaited,” a spokesperson of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police force (ITBP) said.

Plan ready to avoid grid collapse on Sunday night: M.P. official
A plan has been drawn up to ensure that the Western Region Power Grid does not collapse when people switch off house lights in response to prime minister’s appeal on Sunday, a senior official said here.
Energy departments of some states have expressed fear that sudden dip in power consumption at 9 pm on Sunday followed by sudden surge when lights are switched on again could cause the national grid to collapse, causing a blackout.
In Madhya Pradesh, it has also revived memories of a shut-down of the Western Region Grid in July 2002.

Over 3,700 detained, 167 cases registered for lockdown violations in Delhi
More than 160 cases were registered and 3,747 people detained in Delhi on Saturday for violating government orders during the lockdown imposed due to coronavirus outbreak, police said.
According to the data shared by the police, 167 cases were registered under section 188 (for disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code till 5pm.
A total of 3,747 people have been detained under Section 65 (persons bound to comply with reasonable directions of police officers) and 388 vehicles have been impounded under Section 66 of the Delhi Police Act, they stated.

Testing and treatment for COVID-19 will be free of cost for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries at private laboratories and empanelled hospitals, the National Health Authority (NHA) said on Saturday.
The NHA, which implements the national health insurance scheme, said this will strengthen the country’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“Testing and treatment of COVID-19 is already available for free in public facilities. Now, more than 50 crore citizens, eligible under the health assurance scheme will be able to avail free testing through private labs and treatment for COVID-19 in empanelled hospitals,” it said in a statemen.

Delhi police sets up isolation centre for its personnel
The Delhi police has set up a 10-bed isolation centre in Dwarka South police station for its personnel who show symptoms of COVID-19 infection but has no permanent residence in the city, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
At the isolation centre, police personnel will be provided a basic hygiene kit.
The 10 beds are placed at a safe distance from each other, the officer said.

Rate of increase in cases in India less as compared to other countries: Health Ministry
Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agrawal has given an age profile for cases in the country: 9 % cases among people till 20 years of age, 42% among people between 21-40 years age, 33% among 41-60-year-olds and 17% among those above 60 years.
There are 58 critical cases, mainly in Kerala, MP and Delhi, he said.
“The government of India’s response has been proactive and graded. Compared to other countries, the rate of increase in number of infections in India less,” he said.
“1023 cases related to Tablighi Jamaat cluster have been found postive in 17 States so far.
“As we see, 30% of total cases are linked to one particular place, which we could not understand or manage. Our actions should be stringent and measures coordinated,” he added.
“Lockdown measures being implemented effectively in all States,” Home Ministry spokesperson said.

Five new cases in U.P.
Five new cases of COVID-19 have emerged Gautam Buddh Nagar on Saturday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the district to 55, the highest in Uttar Pradesh.
Four persons have been tested positive in the JJ Colony in Sector 5 of Noida, according to an official release. A health department official said one person works in the Cease-Fire Company and he has infected three other persons in the family.
One other person has been found infected by the contagion in Wajidpur village of Sector 135 in Noida.
Both the places have been sealed till April 5 and sanitisation process has started as per protocol.

Two more test positive in M.P.
Two men tested positive for COVID-19 in Khargone district. One of them had returned from France, while the other was a member of the Tablighi Jamaat who had taken part in the gathering at the Nizamuddin centre in New Delhi, said the district Chief Medical and Health Officer. The Madhya Pradesh count reaches 163.
Meanwhile, four members of the Tablighi Jamaat, a policeman and an army-man tested positive for the illness on Saturday in Bhopal, confirmed Arun Rathore, public relations officer of the Bhopal district administration.
The AIIMS, Bhopal, on Friday night discharged a man and his daughter after they recovered from COVID-19, the first reported recoveries in Madhya Pradesh. The woman was the first reported case in Bhopal, said Mr. Rathore.

New York State records highest number of deaths in single day from COVID-19
The New York State reported its highest number of 562 COVID-19 deaths in a single day, with a person dying almost every two-and-a-half minutes, as Governor Andrew Cuomo allowed redistribution of ventilators and protective gear to hospitals with greater need.
Coronavirus cases in the state, the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S., crossed 1,00,000 and it recorded the highest increase in the number of deaths from the virus in a single day between April 2 and 3, Mr. Cuomo said.
The death toll in the state now stands at 2,935, an increase of 562 deaths in just one day, Mr. Cuomo said.
The curve continues to go up, Cuomo said while addressing reporters on Friday.

A man from Indore and another from Chhindwara succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday morning, taking the toll owing to the illness to 10 in Madhya Pradesh.
He had no travel or contact history, but was suffering from obesity and hypertension, according to officials at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Indore.
So far, Madhya Pradesh has reported 10 deaths owing to the illness, with six in Indore alone.

Nestle announces ₹15 crore grant
FMCG major Nestle India on Saturday announced an initial grant of ₹15 crore for providing food and essential groceries to the needy amid the coronavirus lockdown.
It will also support purchase of medical equipment for hospitals to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, Nestle India said in a statement.
The company has already started with a contribution of ₹1 crore to Narayana Hrudayalaya Foundation for purchase of ventilators for Delhi/NCR.
“We commit to initially, a sum of ₹15 crores towards feeding programs for less privileged sections of society through participation with leading and credible NGOs engaged in this along with distribution of essential groceries to the needy,” Nestle India said.
The company would participate with NGOs working on distribution of food and essential groceries.

Of the 10 new cases detected today, five are from Ahmedabad, two from Bhavnagar, two from Gandhinagar and one from Patan.
Fourteen patients have been discharged so far, according to officials.
